Alexander Armbruster hält große Stücke auf den Mainzer Wirtschaftswissenschaftler Philipp Harms, der in seinen Augen mit "International Macroeconomics" ein führendes Lehrbuch über internationale Wirtschaftsbeziehungen verfasst hat, offenbar in englischer Sprache. Dass Harms seine Version von 2008 nun grundlegend revidiert hat und - nach der Finanzkrise - doch etwas weniger Vertrauen in Finanzmärkte und Kapitalströme legt, tut der Gültigkeit keinen Abbruch, ist der Rezensent überzeugt. Denn unverändert bleibe ein Großteil des Buches, Harms Darstellung von Wechselkurstheorien etwa, der Zusammenhang von Kapitalstrom und Wachstum und vor allem die Interpretation des Wirtschaftsgeschehens als Summe von "unzähligen optimierenden Spar-, Investitions- und Konsumentscheidungen".
