In einer Diktatur, in der jedes Reden vom Tatsächlichen nicht nur einen selbst, sondern auch viele andere in Gefahr […] Beispiel von Philipp Plessmann, der am letzten Abend auch Regie führte. Nicht von ungefähr endete das Treffen mit einer "Fürrede": mit Joey Ramones entschnulzt-trotzigen Version von "What a wonderful world this could be".

Warum hat der Verlag nicht zumindest "Sestina for my sisters" hinzugefügt? Oder das Gedicht "In this Place, An American Lyric", mit dem die Autorin 2017 den National Youth Poet Laureate gewann.
Weil Poesie mehr transportiert als das mot-à-mot, ist auch Gormans Hügelruf voller Anspielungen, Metaphern […] Biblische Themen finden sich ebenso wie großartige (Whitmansche?) Landschaftsbilder. Die Assoziationen ließen sich fortsetzen. Und immer wieder Angebote zur Versöhnung.
Let the globe, if nothing else, say this is true:
That even as we grieved, we grew,
That even as we hurt, we hoped,
That even as we tired, we tried.
That we'll forever be tied together.
Victorious,
Not because we will never again know […] Und was macht man mit diesen vielen aus Klangnähe geborenen, ineinander geschobenen Gegensätzen, mit denen Gorman im Lied aus der Asche des Leids den Phönix des Lebens hervorzaubert: "We will raise this wounded world into a wondrous one". ... "wounded" ... "wondrous" ... die verwundete Welt, die sich in ein Wunder wandelt.
