Larry Sultan, 1946 in New York City geboren, studierte an der University of California und am San Francisco Art Institute. Er stellte unter anderem im San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, der Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington DC und im Museum of Modern Art in New York aus. Er ist nun Professor für Kunst am California College of Arts and Craft. Er lebt und arbeitet in Marin County in Kalifornien.
